Dining Room Furniture

I purchased a dining room set from Darvin which was delivered in November of 2014. In December 2015 one of the chairs completely COLLAPSED (both back legs just broke right off) while a guest was sitting in the chair. Around the same time two additional chairs became loose and another has cracked. This furniture is HORRIBLE - a dining room chair should never collapse especially after just a year and my god the other two chairs are falling apart as well. Over the last year this set has been gently used because we have a center island where we eat so we use the dining room only occasionally. This set was very POORLY CONSTRUCTED by the manufacturer HOME ELEGANCE. Again, I can't stress enough - I have never seen a piece of furniture just collapse - this is a horrible product and when I called Darvin they refused to help me. I was told by Darvin that they can't help me because my one year warranty was up (the one year warranty was up by about a month or so). Again, a piece of furniture should never collapse after 13 months. Ridiculous!! I'm really disappointed that Darvin refused to help me - I have purchased many products from Darvin over the years. This will be my last purchase from Darvin and I will never purchase anything from Home Elegance again.

Poor customer service

After searching the internet for a sofa sleeper (2) I called to question the availability of the color SHOWN on the website and the items price. I waited about twenty minutes for someone to answer the telephone, only to be told , she did not know if the chair was available or the price. the sku # was given to the clerk and she stated it was not on display, I suggested I call the manufacture for more information, she agreed. she made me feel I was Intruding on her time, sixteen years ago I purchased a living room set, that will not happen this time.

Darvin Furniture

I bought a gliding recliner from Darvin Furniture when I was pregnant. The chair was delivered late and BROKEN.

They have sent 2 people out to fix it who have been unsuccessful and claim it is due to not having appropriate parts to fix it. As of today, Darvin is not able to tell me when parts will be in and not willing to schedule any appointments to fix the chair. My baby is now 8 MONTHS OLD. No member of management will return any of my calls.

This furniture was paid for in full the date I purchased it.

What kind of company does this?

Darvin Furniture - Delivery Service Review from Tomball, Texas

My sister and I purchased a couch on Thursday 7/23/15 from the orland park location and was told by our sale associate Rebecca G that they were in stock and we would be getting a phone call either that night or the next day to set up delivery. The couch is a surprise gift for our mother and we told Rebecca that we were on a time crunch due to her being out of town. We wanted the couch delivered before she came back. We never got the phone call we were promised. I called today and spoke to customer service who informed me the couch was never in stock and that it would be at least 14 days until they arrived and another 7 to 10 days before we would get our phone call. Rebecca specifically told us a truck arrived Thursday 7/23/15 carrying more of the couches we just bought...the reason why we bought the couch was because we were told it was there and ready for us...not only will the couch not be there on time, it will take up to 3 more weeks. Darvin will never get our service again and we will tell our family and friends about the lack of professionalism displayed to us. Thank you for ruining the surprise we had planned for our mother!

The same exact thing happened to me. I was told by my sales rep.

that I would receive my 2pc sofa and loveseat in 3 weeks. This was back in July. When I called the warehouse, they said that my set wouldn't be ready until the last part of September or early October.

No apologies. This was are the Orland park location...No good reviews from me.

I don't know why my review says Texas...mine was at the orland park location as well! It wouldn't let me edit the location...anyway, they flat out lied straight to our faces and ruined our experience there.

Our family and friends will not be shopping at Darvins. Also, not one person has returned a phone call or tried to rectify this situation, clearly they could care less.

Wont warrenty mattress saging because of sweat stains

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a king size mattress some years back. The mattress is sagging so i submitted a warrenty claim. They sent out an inspector he said the mattress is sagging and both box springs are sagging and have a cracked slat and should be replaced under the warrenty except there were a few sweat stains on the mattress. I asked him what that had to do with the mattress being defective and he said it doesn"t but their policy states the warrenty is voided if there are stains. When it was purchased darvin made us buy a 90.00 cover and said as long as it was on the mattress would be covered. It"s been on since day one. Their claims lady told me that some people in the past have had the stains cleaned and got a new mattress. Im wondering how does a stain cause a mattress and box spring to sag. As far as im concerned it doesn"t. The mattress is at least 16 years old and has a 25 year warrenty. I dont"t think you can have two people sleeping in a bed for that long and not have a stain on the mattress unless it"s covered in plastic. Who want"s to sleep on plastic. It"s just a ploy to not honor their warrenty.

Customer Service is NOT proactive.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Never again will I do business with Darvin Furniture due to their POOR customer service. On 06/10/2015, Darvin's customer service was contacted for replacement parts on a three peice sectional reclining sofa. Per their CS representative, I provided ALL information regarding the product. Even the receipt from ten years ago. With that I was told in July they would be able to contact the manufacturer and it would not take long for them to call me when the product comes in. That was back in July and now it's August 6th. Darvin is NOT proactive when it comes to customer service. I will NEVER buy a product from Darvin knowing how unimportant they make you feel after a purchase.

DARVIN DOESN'T DELIVER ON THERE PROMISE

We bought furniture based on a particular look for our home. Our purchase also declared that we had clear expectations, like any customer, that deliver of said product would not sink after sitting on the settees one time . What was delivered was not the quality Darvin promised. 1. Our sales person Fernando talked about how great these pieces were. Darvin did not have any samples to show us. However, Fernando assured us this furniture was well made, sturdy, long lasting and top quality. 2. My sisters came over for a visit after the sofa was delivered. They sat on the sofa all at 125-135 pounds. Deep craters were noticed in both settees. This initiated several calls to Darvin furniture. 3. Entry 2/02/15: My wife called and spoke with a manager, who said, allow them the opportunity to have an inspector to come out before we could return it. We agreed to proceed as mentioned. 4. We spoke with multiple managers. We were told we would receive a refund. However, Darvin needed to send someone out first. This was necessary to document why the store would issue the refund and this was purely for paperwork. Later, Darvin said they would issue a refund for store credit only. After we said we did not want a store credit that is when a manager called and said they will not issue a refund at all. 5. The Darvin representatives we spoke to were--Maggie, Colleen, Ethel, and John. They did not give their last names. Maggie initially said we would be refunded for the settees after the inspection. 6. When the person came for inspection, he kept talking about how nice the furniture looked and why we did not want to keep it. I agreed that the furniture is nice looking but it is damaged and you can see where it is damaged. Without showing him, the technician immediately went to the damaged areas and said, "Oh I see" the damages. But he said they weren't that bad then suggested we keep the furniture because it was a nice looking room. I was outraged and called Darvin immediately to report this person and what happened. Again, I was told they would refund me as soon as they completed their paper work. This technician tried to get me to sign that the furniture was not damaged. I wrote on his copy the furniture was damaged. 7. Entry Logs 1-4. First delivery date was missed. They were not going to show up for the second delivery date until I had a talk with the manager. 8. We asked about floor samples BEFORE we purchased the settees. Our salesperson Fernando, said there were no samples on the floor. But, he assured us of their high quality and durability. We find it interesting that they report they had six on the floor upon review. 9. Again, we both love the pieces but they are damaged! We saw the items online but never saw them in person. That is why we specifically asked to see and sit on the same brand before we purchased them. Fernando told us they didn't have any on the floor to show us. Then, he assured us of the settees comfort and quality. We did not change our mind as the manager Janet Sweno suggests. Any reasonable customer, who expects one thing and gets another, would feel taken advantage of. 10 Darvin has a history of selling damaged furniture. The have a list of complaints on BBB, google review and RIP OFF with similar issues like our complaint. They use to have a great record for quality and customer service. Those days are long gone!!! I have had this similar situation. purchased a dual recliner leather sofa December 2014.

within one month the leather is sagging big time, you need to put pillows behind you to sit up straight I have made phone calls every month told not to call back I'll call you they never do. how would darvin employees feel feel if they boughtfurniture from there and they get blown off month by month for merchandise purchased and basically not usable without pillows unacceptable Donna Hentsch, to date April 21st 2015 nothing done, going to call BBB and find other resources to get this situation solved this is ridiculous

Delivered used furniture.

I purchased (cash, by the way) a remote recliner, a sofa sleeper chair, dinette set and a bedroom set from Darvin furniture in Orland Park. However, I am not satisfied with the delivered furniture. I have called on several occasions and expressed to them that the furniture looked used. The recliner is lopsided. It slants to the left. A technician came out twice to look at it and took pictures. As of this date (6/10/15), I've gotten no response to my weekly calls since the furniture was delivered on May 2nd. I'm very disappointed with this company. I feel taken advantage of because I am a senior citizen and a minority. I feel cheated and very disgusted.

Darvin Furniture - Couch Review from Oak Lawn, Illinois

I wrote this review. I finally got my furniture after 4 months and nothing but hassle.

Now that I have it I find that a seam is coming apart on a chair. I have had this chair for less than a month! This entire experience has been nothing short of infuriating!

We were lied to by several people and the furniture is terrible!

Worst Customer and Quality Service Ever

I purchased a dining room table with 6 chairs, 2 are arm chairs, the other 4 are sit-ins. I was also receiving other furniture at the time and they were only able to deliver 2 of the arm chairs. Ok, no problem, until I sit in the one chair and it's wobbly because the one leg is 1/2 inch off from the rest. I call them, and they said they'll exchange it, so no big deal. I even did them a favor by having them deliver all the other remaining table and chairs along with the exchange. So I get all my furniture along with the new chair, and about a week later the side chair breaks. They tell me that they're going to exchange this one. I tell them that's fine, but I can't keep taking time off (using my vacation time to deal with this) so fortunately for them I have a contractor friend who's working on my house. They give you these ridiculous long time frames (3 hour windows) in which the furniture will be delivered. Well as luck would have it, my friend has to run off to get some parts, and they tried to deliver it then. Then I complain to people over there about the missed delivery and they tell me there's nothing they can do but they can reschedule it next Wednesday. So finally I get to speak to a supervisor about it and they schedule the delivery for this Saturday, which is fine, but then another 3 hour window from 2pm-5pm which to me is unacceptable since I may not be there at that point in time. Nothing you can do about it, but I recommend don't patronize them. You'll get shafted from them, even though you may spend some big bucks on their *** furniture that can't even make it a week without breaking.

"Can we deliver it in pieces?!"

On March 17th my husband and I went in to Darvin Furniture in Orland Park, IL to purchase a bed for our son. Even though the bed was on clearance, we still paid over our budget for it, because we felt that it was a good quality of furniture. We were told that the bed would be in stock at the end of April, BUT, we still have yet to receive anything from Darvin Furniture, a phone call stating that it would be longer, an email stating it's not all here etc. On May 3rd, we spoke to a sales manager that asked "can we deliver it in pieces for you?" Meaning he wouldn't charge us for the second deliver due to the "Manufacturer" being behind schedule. I explained to him that we wanted our bed set sent all at the same time, and we would like to be compensated for our inconvenience, and he stated; "because the manufacturer doesn't compensate them, he wouldn't compensate us" we then went on telling him that we either want a refund or we needed to be given something for the lengthy wait of our merchandise. We had to give him a deadline of May 10th, and if we didn't hear anything from a person from Darvin Furniture, we will need to be refunded. We are very disappointed in Darvin Furniture, working in retail you normally would try to keep customers business and not just be so quick to agree to giving a refund just because you seem as if you don't want to deal with the issue. This is clearly in a "Managers" job description!!!! Signed, Completely & Utterly Disappointed w/Darvin Furniture (Orland Park, IL)
